Founder and Clinical Director, Kay Ganguly, set up Healing Touch Rehab in 2013 after a number of years working within the NHS as an advanced clinician specialising in paediatric physiotherapy. Now the business, in its 10th year of operating, is a thriving organisation that is renowned for its commitment to excellence and unwavering dedication to its clients and partners.

Kay looks back at the Healing Touch journey from working in the NHS to growing a business that supports adults and children with a holistic approach to therapies across a range of rehabilitation services.

Kay’s story

In my previous role with The NHS at The Sheffield Children’s Hospital, we worked incredibly hard to optimise patient outcomes. We had our limitations and often long-term community-based rehab after the hospital discharge were not available to our patients, which lead to plateauing and some level of regression.

Statistics say that the lifetime cost on the system to care for a child with cerebral palsy is over one million pounds!

It became thought-provoking and made me think: how could I make a positive contribution to these children and make their lives meaningful?

I then decided to step forward and create a service that is able to fill the gap to maximise outcome post-acute care. This was the purpose, the just cause. I wanted to make a difference, take action, and do something about it.

Stepping into the unknown is never easy, in fact it’s always daunting – but the experience has been overwhelming, and the journey has been remarkable with the mission of creating a lasting legacy.

And here we are ten years on! We have served hundreds of clients, and impacted hundreds of lives. It has been heart-warming to be a part of so many journeys, and long may it continue.

We are fortunate and thankful to be in such a position to make a small impact on the lives of those who need our support the most.
