Healing Touch Rehab was delighted to host a recent Yorkshire Acquired Brain Injury Forum (YABIF) event focused on paediatric early intervention and potential legal and safeguarding implications that may arise when intervention is delayed.

The event brought together professionals from across the sector for an evening of discussion, shared learning, and thoughtful conversation around the importance of supporting children and families in a way that is both clinically informed and joined up.

A shared focus on early intervention and safeguarding

The event highlighted the important relationship between rehabilitation, early intervention, and safeguarding for children with acquired brain injuries using a targeted collaborative approach.

At Healing Touch Rehab, this reflects a belief that rehabilitation is about far more than treatment plans or timelines alone. It is about protecting futures, rebuilding confidence, supporting families, and giving every child the best possible opportunity to thrive over the longer term.

Bringing professionals together

One of the most valuable aspects of the event was the opportunity to bring together people who care deeply about improving outcomes for children with complex needs. The room was filled with professionals who understand the importance of collaborative working, not only within rehabilitation, but across the wider network of care and support that surrounds a child and their family.

The conversations throughout the evening reinforced just how important it is for clinicians, legal professionals, and other specialists to work closely together. When expertise is shared in this way, it creates a stronger foundation for meaningful and lasting outcomes.

An energising evening of learning and connection

The event was also a welcome opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and make new connections with others committed to advancing paediatric rehabilitation and the need for early intervention in protecting unavoidable harm in children with complex disabilities. These conversations matter: they help strengthen relationships across the sector, encourage fresh thinking, and support the kind of joined-up approach that children and families so often need.

Kay Ganguly, Clinical Director at Healing Touch Rehab, said:

“It was a privilege to present on paediatric early intervention and the need for early intervention in protecting unavoidable harm in children with complex disabilities. What stood out throughout the event was the shared commitment in the room to protecting futures, supporting families, and helping children thrive in the long term. Those conversations and shared values are what continue to drive positive change across our sector.”

Thank you to everyone involved

The Healing Touch Rehab team would like to thank the organisers, Lauren Atkinson and Phillipa Parnell, as well as everyone who attended and contributed to such a thoughtful and impactful event.

The evening was a strong reminder of the value of bringing passionate professionals together to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and keep improving the support available to children and families.
