Rehabilitation is most effective when it is both clinically robust and meaningfully engaging.
At Healing Touch Rehab, a new series of integrated group therapy sessions has been developed to bring together physiotherapy and music therapy in a structured, goal-focused way. Delivered from the centre in Horsforth, these sessions are designed to support more confident movement, increased participation and meaningful progress for children and individuals with neurological needs.
Limited spaces are available, secure your spot here.
A combined approach to rehabilitation
Music therapy is increasingly recognised as an effective intervention within neurological rehabilitation. It is a research-based profession regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and has been shown to support functional rehabilitation, enhance social engagement, and improve quality of life for individuals living with the effects of brain injury and neurological conditions. Physiotherapy and music therapy each play an important role in neurorehabilitation. When used together, they offer a complementary approach that supports both physical and cognitive development.
Music Therapy is a clinically validated approach that uses music and musical elements of rhythm, melody, harmony to facilitate rehabilitation of motor, cognitive, and speech functions in individuals with neurological disorders. The intervention engages areas of the brain linked to movement, attention and communication. Combined with physiotherapy, this can enhance motor learning, improve engagement and support more consistent participation in therapy.

Introducing our group sessions
These sessions have been carefully developed to provide structured rehabilitation within a supportive and social setting:
- Rhythm to Recovery (Under-16s) : A balance and mobility group combining physiotherapy and music therapy to support coordination, movement and confidence in children. Sessions are delivered in small groups to allow for individualised input while encouraging shared experience. Wheelchair users are welcome.
- 16+ Wheelchair-Based Group: A group designed for individuals with mobility needs, focusing on functional movement, endurance and engagement through a combination of physiotherapy and music therapy, alongside opportunities for social interaction.
Small group sizes and block booking apply. To find out more contact clinic@healingtouchrehab.co.uk or book your place here.
Clinically led, individually tailored
Although delivered in a group setting, these sessions are not one-size-fits-all. Each group is carefully structured based on individual needs, functional ability and rehabilitation goals.
This approach supports:
- Improved motor function and movement quality
- Increased confidence and independence
- Enhanced communication and engagement
- Enhanced endurance and fatigue levels
- Emotional wellbeing
- Opportunities for social interaction
By working in small, personalised groups, clinical integrity is maintained while also enabling the benefits of shared progress and peer support.
A space for progress and connection
These sessions are designed not only to deliver therapy, but also to create an environment where individuals and families feel supported.
Rehabilitation can often feel isolating, particularly for those navigating complex needs. Group sessions offer a space to connect with others, share experiences and build confidence in a setting where progress is visible and recognised.
A word from our Clinical Director
Clinical Director Kay Ganguly reflects:
“Engagement plays a crucial role in rehabilitation. By combining physiotherapy with music therapy, movement and function can be supported in a way that feels more natural, motivating and meaningful for each individual.
These sessions also create a space for connection, where children, adults and families feel supported and encouraged. It is about bringing together clinical expertise and human experience to support progress in a more holistic way.”
