Neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries can significantly impact a person’s ability to perform daily activities. Occupational therapy plays a vital role in neurological rehabilitation by helping individuals regain independence, improve their quality of life, and adapt to new challenges.
In this blog, we explain how our therapy services enable our clients to achieve their rehabilitation goals.
Gaining independence through occupational therapy
For individuals recovering from traumatic brain injury (TBI), our occupational therapy team focuses on both physical and cognitive rehabilitation. We help clients with sensory integration, executive function training, and behavioural strategies to manage mood swings and impulsivity.
We assess visual-perceptual skills and spatial awareness, which may be impaired due to brain injury. Task-oriented exercises and real-life simulations are used to enable clients to relearn essential daily activities.
We will assess client’s living and working environments and recommend modifications such as grab bars, ergonomic tools, and assistive technology to enhance safety and accessibility. As well as this, we provide guidance, coping strategies, and support to help clients to engage in meaningful activities, promoting mental health and social participation.
Our approach to individualised treatment
Our collaborative approach with clients in neurorehabilitation involves thorough assessments addressing all aspects of therapy.
After a comprehensive assessment by our team, we design individualised plans that establish SMART goals, aiding individuals in regaining and maintaining Independence in crucial areas of their lives such as work, school, or home. Interventions are continuously assessed through a cyclical evaluation and planning process, ensuring we meet our clients’ needs.
